" I am intrigued by the meanings in a sculpture and paintings that are not immediately obvious. To explore how meanings are exposed and where they exist - in the object, in the mind of the artist or of the observer.
My desire for honesty and directness inspires me to explore how sculpture engages our senses. I love that a sculpture is tangible, you can feel it, touch it, smell it. I hope that my art touches you"
Biography:
Stone has always fascinated me and as a child growing up in Sweden, I spent a lot of time outdoors with a fascination for stone and ice. Nature remains a great resource for my work and allows me to flow my creativity. I love the longevity and history that can be found in stone, in the footsteps of our ancestors.
Each piece I create exposes a response to a feeling or reveals the essence of a character in a particular moment, or period of time. Female form, masks and heads are common themes, and I also explore form and space in my more abstract pieces.
I was born in the North of Sweden in 1965. I lived most of my adult life in Stockholm and moved to England in 2005. On my move to the UK, which followed 20 years in a corporate career, I finally fulfilled a desire to study sculpture and graduated in 2011 from the Visual Arts Programme, West Dean College, Sussex with an MA (Distinction). Furthermore I studied psychology and economics, graduating from Middlesex University in 2010 - Institute of Psychosynthesis, London and a 1988 BSc in Economics and Business Administration at University of Linköping, Sweden.
I am currently represented in the UK by Candida Stevens Gallery, Chichester, W.Sussex
